The American Heart Association and American Stroke Association are recommending a new stroke treatment, urging doctors to use "stent retrievers" to treat certain patients with strokes caused by a blood clot blocking the large arteries supplying blood to the brain. The guidelines recommend that the procedure only be performed by physicians at comprehensive or primary stroke centers, such as OhioHealth, which treats the most stroke patients in central Ohio with the talents of RRIA's own neurointerventional team of Drs. Budzik, Pema, Davis, and Vora.

Riverside Radiology and Interventional Associates (RRIA), the state’s largest independent radiology group practice, and Post House (PH), an Emmy Award winning creative content company and video production boutique, have joined forces to share the stories of three courageous women who stepped up to tell their personal stories about fighting breast cancer and becoming breast cancer survivors, in recognition of this year’s Susan G. Komen Columbus Race for the Cure.
Breast imaging specialist Dr. Lauren Miller discussed the dense breast tissue that can be found in mammogram screenings with The Columbus Dispatch. Dense breast tissue, unlike fatty tissue, can obscure or hide an abnormality in the breast. Dr. Miller outlined the new technologies she and other RRIA breast specialists utilize to combat dense breast tissue and ensure the best read and results for the patient.
RRIA's own Dr. Ron Budzik was featured in a new story for WBNS-10TV in Columbus, OH. The piece discussed a new stroke treatment technique that was tested at OhioHealth Riverside Hospital, which uses a tiny scaffold-like stent that allows doctors to remove brain clots quickly and easily. Doctors at Riverside Hospital were among the first in the country to test a new technique, which could change the face of stroke treatment worldwide.
Dr. Tom Buse was featured as part of the Toshiba Putting Patients First video presented at the 2014 AHRA Annual Meeting in Washington, DC. A segment of the video recognized the OhioHealth Bing Cancer Center team, their lung cancer navigator program, and overall efforts to put patients first in everything they do.
